Emma Raducanu’s career has been marred by injury and fitness issues, but she is reportedly looking to work with one of the top tennis strength and conditioning specialists in an effort to turn her fortunes around.
Raducanu has suffered from a number of injuries since making her breakthrough in 2021, which has undoubtedly contributed significantly to her slowed progress since she took home her biggest career title at Flushing Meadows.
Over the past three years, the 21-year-old has struggled with a variety of health conditions, including blisters, wrist pain, ankle injuries, and muscle issues.
According to Telegraph Sport, Raducanu has turned to Yutaka Nakamura because she wants to make her fitness a top priority going forward. The two are currently in communication.
Nakamura has an impressive resume. He worked for Maria Sharapova for eight years, as well as Naomi Osaka for a long time. He also had relationships with Denis Shapovalov, Jennifer Capriati, Mary Pierce, Tommy Haas, and Kei Nishikori.
Emma Raducanu is looking at hiring Yutaka Nakamura, the fitness trainer who worked with Sharapova for 8 years, and then Osaka among others. Will be a statement of intent if she goes ahead https://t.co/W2Jcmb3xX6
