Jessica Pegula has withdrawn from her final WTA Finals match due to a left knee injury, allowing alternate Daria Kasatkina to enter the tournament. Pegula, currently ranked No. 6, made the decision after struggling with knee discomfort, which she said intensified unexpectedly despite feeling good before the event began.

Already out of semifinal contention after losses to Coco Gauff and Barbora Krejcikova, Pegula was scheduled to face second-ranked Iga Swiatek in her last Orange Group match. “I wasn’t comfortable moving on court,” Pegula shared. “The injury flared up right before my first match.”

Kasatkina, ranked No. 9, will step in for Pegula and play against Swiatek on Thursday in Riyadh.
