Novak Djokovic, still in the running for the ATP Finals in Turin, might opt out to prioritize his long-term health and focus on Grand Slams. Former world No. 4 Greg Rusedski speculated that Djokovic’s careful scheduling signals a smart pivot, similar to lessons Federer and Nadal learned amid injuries.
“I will be surprised if he plays in Turin or any more this season, but never discount him,” Rusedski noted, adding,
“Health is your wealth; the older you become, the smarter you have to be, and he knows this.”
Rusedski urged Djokovic to learn from his retired rivals:
“He has looked at Federer and Rafa… and knows he has to change a few things to beat the likes of Sinner and Alcaraz back to back.”
Although Djokovic is sixth in the ATP race, his ultimate focus might be on a strong, healthy start to 2025 rather than competing in Turin this year.
