Goran Ivanisevic, Novak Djokovic’s former coach, recently spoke out about Jannik Sinner’s doping test controversy. In Sinner‘s case, the Croat hoped for a positive result. Additionally, he mentioned those who wish to ruin someone’s life.

An independent tribunal in August ruled Sinner innocent after he tested positive for the illegal steroid Clostebol during his 2024 Indian Wells campaign. After filing successful appeals, the Italian was also able to have his temporary suspension lifted.

Even so, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) challenged the September decision that found Sinner not at fault or negligent, arguing that the tennis player was partially to blame for his team’s error.

In a statement, the WADA requested a one- to two-year period of ineligibility. Sinner has also had to cope with a great deal of online criticism during the prolonged affair.

In a recent interview with Sport Klub, Ivanisevic addressed the controversy: “I sincerely hope they leave him alone and let him play. Tennis needs Sinner. With Čilić, I had to deal with WADA and similar bodies; I’ve been there. There are many complex people who want to destroy someone’s life. I hope for a positive outcome for Sinner.”
