Cuevas, Klizan to clash in the Hamburg final

Pablo Cuevas and Martin Klizan are both one match away from winning the title in Hamburg.

Cuevas

Pablo has defeated Renzo Olivo 7-5 6-3 in the semifinal. Cuevas’ path to the final has been extremely smooth for an ATP500 after he beat Florian Mayer (world no.77), Monteiro (123), Mathieu (66), and Olivo (153).

After the semifinal, Cuevas commented “I trained with Renzo in the off-season. He’s a good friend and a good player. Today I played well. Renzo is so fast on the court. I’m happy to be in another final this year. It will be a tough match tomorrow. Klizan is a left-hander and a very aggressive player. I will prepare to play my best tennis tomorrow.”

Klizan

Martin also had an “easy” run in Hamburg to beat Sijsling (world no. 116), Louis Wessels (unranked), Gimeno-Traver (156), and Robert (83). After winning the semifinal against Roberts ( 6-3 6-4), Klizan commented “It’s a pleasure to be in a final, especially here in Hamburg,” said Klizan. “I would say Pablo is the favourite tomorrow. He has a better ranking and has played all season without an injury, so he’s in better shape than me. I’m just feeling very confident right now, and I think it’s going to be a very interesting match. I’m going to enjoy it. Being in the final is a great, great feeling for me.”

Head to head
