Before being forced to miss Paris due to illness, world number one Jannik Sinner was on course to win his eighth title of the year.
The Italian’s recent performance has been impressive, as he has won 25 of his last 26 games. His only loss came to Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling three-set Beijing Open final.
With a double over Novak Djokovic at the Six Kings Slam and Shanghai Masters in October, Jannik Sinner has made it clear that he intends to stay.
But after a hectic few months, the Italian’s health has been restored, and he has made the decision to give his body a break before making one last push, especially with the ATP Finals and Davis Cup approaching.
Brad Gilbert may be anticipating a call shortly after being relieved of his coaching responsibilities of Coco Gauff following a disappointing US Open; after all, coaching changes appear to be popular right now.
There was strong opposition to the ITF’s plans to start off-court coaching in 2025 from both high-profile members and fans.
Even though Gilbert’s suggestions seem reasonable, the way the events are planned and set up makes it seem like not much will be done to change it. In some ways, this isn’t a huge deal, and it might not be worth the trouble.
Gilbert wrote on X: “Draw change, I would definitely like to see on @atptour when a top seed pulls out, even after drawing started, in this case, Sin City. Allowing LL to move into 2nd rd, I would put a 9-16 seed into that 1st spot who had not played yet; better balance for a draw, @SharkoTennis.”
