Andy Murray embraced Halloween this year with his signature humor, delighting fans by dressing up as a comically grumpy clown. The former Wimbledon champion posted a photo on Instagram in full costume: white face paint, a rainbow wig, a red nose, a red and yellow polka-dot top, and oversized green trousers held up by suspenders.
His deadpan expression completed the look, as he sarcastically captioned, “Hope you are all enjoying Halloween as much as me.”
Fans and fellow players filled the comments with laughter and light-hearted jokes. One user quipped, “You’ve gone to a deep, dark place since retirement, Andy,” while another added, “It is absolutely impossible not to love this man.” The official Cincinnati Open account even chimed in, asking, “Is everything ok, Andy?”
Murray’s mother, Judy, joined in on X (formerly Twitter), reposting the image and adding, “This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands.”
Since retiring after the Olympics, Murray has been enjoying life beyond tennis, expressing a newfound freedom that allows him more family time and personal pursuits. “I feel really free… I can dedicate time to my children and play golf on my own terms,” he shared with BBC Radio 4.
For now, Murray seems perfectly content enjoying his time off—and giving fans plenty of laughs along the way.
