Tennis is becoming richer and richer.
All tournaments are progressively increasing their prize money, and now it’s time also for the US Open to make its move. The organization has just announced an increase of 10% of its prize money to a record $46.3 million dollars. This represents the biggest increase in its history.
We continue to invest
USTA Chairman of the Board and President Katrina Adams, commented “We are proud that this year’s US Open will offer the richest purse in tennis history. We continue to invest in all aspects of this world-class event to provide the best services and experiences for the players, our fans, and all of the US Open partners.”
Figures
The prize money is extremely interesting. The champion of both singles events will pocket $3.5 million dollars. In doubles, each team will get $625,000. A very important step is prize money earned for reaching the first round ($43,300).
