Emma Raducanu is having a very difficult time recovering from a serious foot injury. She had to withdraw from the QF at the Korea Open due to aggravated pain, which was her most recent appearance.
Despite her efforts to make a comeback, it appears that the Brit’s serious mistake may have caused her prolonged delay. It might make it more difficult for her to get to court on time.
In a recent discussion, she confessed: “In 2023, I underwent three surgeries and was out of the circuit for eight months. Moreover, the recovery was not as fast as we had hoped. Initially, the plan was to return four months after the surgery, but I ended up needing double the time because I returned to the courts too soon and caused further damage. I think that taught me a lesson, a lesson about patience and not trying to rush processes.”
The young tennis player claims that she neglected her recovery. After undergoing multiple surgeries last year, she opted to play when it was time to rest instead. However, she now recognizes the importance of patience.
She wants to give her body as much time as she can in order to become completely fit. If Raducanu has learned anything thus far, it is to value and respect her body and general health.
She further said: “When you come back to the circuit, you need time to reach the level that this sport demands. Matches are different from trainings; they introduce an element of unpredictability, so right now I am much more grateful for my health than my results.”
