Nishikori retires for the 2nd consecutive time from Wimbledon

A few days ago Kei Nishikori warned Asian players to muscle up if they want to compete with the very best in tennis. Probably, Kei new that something was coming, and he had to retire from Wimbledon after he was losing 6-1 5-1 to Marin Cilic in the 4th round.

It was too painful. NISHIKORI

After the match, Kei explained he had a problem with his rib that was preventing him from serving. Nishikori called the doctor twice on court. “It was too much pain I could not really compete today,” Nishikori explained. “Every point I played it got worse. I did not want to but I had to retire.”

Nishikori has now retired 21 times in his career; 16 times on court, and in 5 times he conceded a walkover. Kei also retired last year (calf), before playing the 2nd round in Wimbledon.
