Injured Djokovic not playing Davis Cup against Murray

Novak Djokovic is not a happy guy right now. The world no.1 was widely considered as the favorite to win Wimbledon, but eventually, he fell short in the 3rd round to Sam Querry.

Djokovic Injured?

After the match, Novak hinted he was injured (“not at my 100%”) and he added he needs to rest. For this reason, Djokovic disclosed “No, I’m not going to play the Davis Cup.”

Then the world no.1 added

“I have a family, and I have a life outside of tennis. I have plenty of things to look forward to. I’m going to obviously pay more attention to those things than tennis in the next period. I need it. It’s been a very successful year so far, but a very long one, exhausting one, in every sense of that word. I just need some rest.”

Novak was meant to play the Davis Cup against Britain (i.e.,. Murray) from July 15-17. The host country chose the clay for the tie (the least favorite surface for Murray).

Not sure if I will play. MURRAY

Andy confirmed that he wants to play the tie, but ” I yeah also need to see how things go at the end of this event. It has been a long few months for me already. I need just to assess how I’m feeling at the end of the event, and hopefully, I can go a long way here. That’s what my target is. But I’m not basing my decision on Novak. I want to play in the tie. If I’m physically fit, I’ll be there.”
