Former U.S. Open champion Emma Raducanu has announced her withdrawal from the upcoming Hong Kong Open, citing an ongoing foot injury. The British tennis player, currently ranked 55th in the world, revealed that despite making good progress in her recovery, she is not yet match fit.

Raducanu sustained the injury during her Korea Open quarter-final match against Daria Kasatkina on September 21, 2024. She had to retire from the match after spraining ligaments in her foot. Since then, Raducanu has missed several tournaments, including the Hong Kong Open, which was set to begin on October 28, 2024.

In a statement shared on social media, Raducanu expressed her disappointment: “Whilst my foot is making good progress, I need a little more time before I am match fit. I hope to be able to come back and play this tournament in the future!”

Despite her withdrawal, Raducanu remains focused on her goal to be ready for the Billie Jean King Cup finals in November, where Great Britain will face Germany on November 15, 2024. The finals will be held in Malaga from November 13-20, 2024.

Raducanu’s fans and supporters are hopeful for her swift recovery and are eagerly awaiting her return to the court. In the meantime, she continues to work diligently on her rehabilitation to ensure she is fully prepared for the upcoming team tournament.
