Easy stuff for Serena Williams that defeats the world no. 148 Amra Sadikovic 6-2 6-4. The world no.1 struggled just a bit in the first game of the match to recover a 15-40 deficit before winning 13 consecutive points and get a decisive 3-0 lead. After winning the first set, Serena had another little “moment” in the 3rd game of the second set when she was broken at 30. Eventually, the world no.1 broke back her opponent in the following game to finally win the match 6-2 6-4.
It was tough. SERENA
After the match, Serena commented “I never underestimate anyone. I don’t think it was tougher than I thought. It was definitely tough. She plays an old school grass court game. I knew that going in. So when you’re prepared, it’s always a lot easier than not knowing,” Williams added. “Once I knew that, I’m really ready. I was ready for it.”
Next vs. McHale
Serena will play her compatriot Christina Mchale in the 2nd round. The head to head is 2-0 for the world no.1 that has defeated Christina twice this year.
