After her devastating China Open campaign last week, Naomi Osaka is back in the gym to get stronger. A difficult match against fourth-seeded Coco Gauff caused the former World No. 1 to sustain a lower back injury. Since then, she has revealed that the severity of her problem was greater than she first believed.

Osaka won three straight matches at the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing last month, demonstrating her explosive form for the first time since May. Unfortunately for her, she had to retire at 6-3, 4-6 after aggravating a lower back injury against Coco Gauff in the Round of 16.

In several Instagram stories earlier this week, the 26-year-old thanked her fans and provided them with an injury update.

Osaka returned to the gym despite her injury, worked on improving her fitness, and posted some of her best moments on social media. She was standing in front of a squat rack wearing a blue t-shirt, burgundy leggings, and headphones.
