World No. 1 Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in the Shanghai Masters, shattering his hopes of winning his 100th career title.
On Sunday, the Italian tennis player defeated Djokovic 7-6 (4), 6-3, to win the seventh title of the season at the Shanghai Masters.
The 37-year-old thanked his supporters on Instagram after losing the finals and congratulated Sinner on his amazing victory.
Djokovic wrote on Instagram after the loss: “Tough to take the L at a tournament so close to my heart, but it wasn’t meant to be today. Bravo @janniksin, and to your team for today’s win and on an incredible year. To the people of Shanghai and all Chinese fans, thank you for your support, your passion, and your kindness. It’s been very special to be back here. See you soon.”
Additionally, he posted stylish pictures of himself holding a black umbrella while standing in a lush green setting in a sleek dark green suit with black shades.
He wrote: “Leaving China in style.”
