Daniil Medvedev discussed his thoughts on Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Novak Djokovic, the top players in the ATP.
The three have emerged as the best players in the game over the past two seasons, particularly as a result of their Grand Slam performances.
Even at the age of 37, Djokovic remains the overwhelming favourite to win every match that he enters. As he demonstrated against Alcaraz in the Paris Olympics final, the Serbian still possesses the ability to perform better on the biggest stage.
Medvedev has experienced some heartbreaking losses recently, so he is well aware of how difficult it is to play against the trio.
Over the past two years, Sinner and Alcaraz have surpassed Djokovic and won Grand Slam matches against him. They have both improved dramatically.
Together, the two players own six major championships and are ranked as the top two players in the world. After losing to Sinner at the Shanghai Masters, Medvedev discussed the Italian’s recent progress and how he and Alcaraz compare to Djokovic.
Medvedev talked about it and said: “I think at this exact moment Sinner and Carlos are probably the best in the world. But as I said, you know, Novak, we know what he’s capable of, and he proved it at the Olympics again, especially beating Carlos in the final. He serves well, he serves much better than before, and even today, you know, where everything was going a little bit on his side, the few moments where I could maybe have a look at something, he served very big.”
He added: “He’s very consistent, yeah, I mean, he’s a great player. I think he has some crazy stats where he almost never loses before quarterfinals, etcetera, so, yeah, he’s a great player.”
