After a challenging run at the China Open, Karolina Muchova has announced her withdrawal from the 2024 Wuhan Open, which is scheduled for October 7–13. Muchova, who made it to the final in Beijing, mentioned that she needed enough time to recover from her demanding schedule.

Following an outstanding showing at the China Open, where she reached the final before losing in straight sets, 1-6, 3-6, to fourth seed Coco Gauff, Muchova has decided to withdraw from the Wuhan Open.

Throughout the tournament, the unseeded Czech player proved her strength and skill, defeating top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the quarterfinals and fifth-seeded and home favourite Zheng Qinwen in the semifinals.

On October 8, Muchova informed her fans of the news via her Instagram stories. She wrote: “Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in Wuhan this year. After a tough schedule in Beijing, I need a bit more time to fully recover. Looking forward to seeing you all in Ningbo next week!”
