Karolina Pliskova is finally finding her way back. The Czech was struggling with her results since, before Nottingham, she hasn’t won a title for more than one year (the last was Prague 2015 in April).
Pliskova defeated Alison Riske 7-6 (8) 7-5 in the final. Karolina saved 6 set points in the first set, and she has managed to revert a 4-5 deficit in the second set to win three consecutive games and conquer the final in under 2 hours.
Pliskova. Serving well was the key to my win
Karolina commented “It feels good to win, especially after all those tie-breaks this week. All of those I was set point down, so I’m really happy that I made it and that I have the trophy in my hands. Today there were parts of the match when I was better and parts when she was.
I really needed my serve today, and some aces got me out of some important moments. She has a great game on grass, so I needed to be at my best today to get the win.”
