Emma Raducanu, once hailed as one of tennis’ brightest stars, is facing challenges beyond the court as her sponsorship with Porsche takes a hit. The luxury car brand, which signed Raducanu as a global ambassador following her 2021 US Open triumph, has reportedly reclaimed one of her key perks: her Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, valued at £125,000.
An associate close to Raducanu confirmed that the car, once a prominent fixture at her home, is no longer in her possession. While Porsche has stated they are “very happy” with their partnership and that Raducanu still holds her ambassadorial title, this development raises questions about the longevity of their collaboration.
Porsche is known for its stringent approach to sponsorship deals, often reconsidering partnerships based on performance and marketability. If Raducanu loses her ambassador status, it could significantly affect her tennis schedule, especially regarding her entry into the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart. She has received wildcards for this WTA 500 event, where she reached the quarter-finals earlier this year.
With her current ranking at world No. 54, Raducanu may struggle to qualify for the tournament independently if she no longer has the guaranteed entry provided by Porsche. The young star must now focus on improving her performance on the court to regain stability in her sponsorships while navigating the pressure of maintaining her status as a prominent figure in women’s tennis. As she grapples with these challenges, Raducanu remains committed to her craft, hoping to restore her confidence and performance levels.
