Novak Djokovic admitted that he faced some initial struggles in his opening match at the Shanghai Masters against American rising star, Alex Michelsen. The world No. 1 eventually won the match but explained that having been away from competitive play for a while, it took time to get into rhythm.

“I haven’t played in a while, and it took me some time to start things off,” Djokovic said. He also praised Michelsen’s aggressive playing style and movement. “He plays very aggressive tennis and moves well for someone that tall. It was a high-quality match.”

With a total of 64 winners and 42 unforced errors between the two players, Djokovic acknowledged the tough contest while highlighting Michelsen’s potential.
