In a surprising turn of events, World No.1 Iga Swiatek has announced the end of her three-year coaching partnership with Tomasz Wiktorowski. The decision marks the conclusion of a highly successful collaboration that saw Swiatek ascend to the pinnacle of women’s tennis.

Swiatek, who took to social media to share the news, expressed her gratitude towards Wiktorowski for his invaluable contributions to her career. Under his guidance, Swiatek captured four Grand Slam titles and achieved the longest winning streak of the 2000s, with 37 consecutive victories in 2022. Wiktorowski’s strategic acumen and deep understanding of the game were instrumental in Swiatek’s rise to the top.

The Polish star highlighted the mutual and amicable nature of their decision to part ways. She acknowledged Wiktorowski’s desire to take a well-deserved break after years of intense travel and hard work. Swiatek also mentioned that she is in the process of searching for a new coach, indicating that she is ready to take the next step in her career with fresh perspectives and new strategies.

This was her statement: “After 3 years of the greatest achievements in my career, together with my coach Tomasz Wiktorowski we decided to part ways. I want to start with a big thank you and appreciating our work together.

Coach Wiktorowski joined my team for 3 seasons, when I strongly needed changes and a fresh approach to my game. His experience, analytical and strategic attitude and enormous knowledge about tennis helped us to achieve things I’ve never dreamed of only a few months after we started working together. Our main goal was to become no 1 player in the world and coach Wiktorowski was the one who said it first. We aimed very high, we headed to every tournament with a clear goal to win it. Together with coach Wiktorowski we won many tournaments and 4 Grand Slams.”

Swiatek’s announcement comes at a time when she has withdrawn from the China Open, citing personal reasons. This break will allow her to focus on finding the right coach to continue her journey in professional tennis.

As Swiatek embarks on this new chapter, the tennis world watches with keen interest to see who will join her team next and how this change will impact her future performances. The end of her partnership with Wiktorowski marks not just the close of a successful era, but also the beginning of a new one filled with potential and promise.
