Carlos Alcaraz claimed on Thursday that the demanding tennis schedule had left him with little time to celebrate winning the China Open because he had to leave the stadium right away to catch a plane to the ongoing Shanghai Masters.
After a tiring three hours and twenty-one minutes on Wednesday night in Beijing, Alcaraz defeated world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, and he later talked in Shanghai for a press conference.
On Saturday, Alcaraz will play his first match of the competition against Shang Juncheng, who last month won the Chengdu Open and became just the second player from China to win an ATP Tour singles title.

Alcaraz expressed his remarks about his relationship with Sinner and said: “We are not close friends, but I think the respect that we have puts us in a position that we have a really good relationship.”
