After defeating Madison Keys 6-4 6-3 to go to the WTA’s China Open quarterfinals, second-ranked Aryna Sabalenka has now equalled her career-high 15 straight victories.
With a victory at Cincinnati in August and a run to the final at the US Open last month, the three-time grand slam champion got her winning streak started. Earlier in the year, she had also won the Australian Open. Her prior 15-game run was completed during the 2020–21 season.
She expressed her remarks after the win in Beijing and said: “When you’re able to sacrifice a lot and you’re able to work hard and you’re able to get these wins, that’s the best feeling. You’re just living your best life. You’re excited to play your matches. You’re excited to face whatever fight you going to face.”
The Belarusian is currently on a winning streak of 31 sets, with just one set loss to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the Flushing Meadows third round.
In Beijing, Sabalenka’s form guide quickly came true to as she defeated the 24th-ranked Keys in the first set’s third game. She then dominated on serve for the entirety of her 65-minute match, improving her record against the American to 4-1.
