Emma Raducanu has come under fire from strength and conditioning coach Kieron Vorster for her limited tennis schedule, which he finds “mind-blowing.” Currently sidelined by a ligament injury in her left foot, Raducanu withdrew from the China Open, sparking a broader conversation about her approach.
Vorster, who previously worked with players like Tim Henman, believes Raducanu’s lack of match play is hindering her performance. He said, “She just doesn’t play enough matches… you need to get out there and play.”
Raducanu has endured a challenging 2023 season, opting for an abbreviated clay-court schedule and skipping events like Roland-Garros and the Olympics, which has led to inconsistent results.
Vorster added, “There are too many people around her… gone are the days where you just have your coach and trainer.”
Raducanu’s recent struggles with injuries and sporadic match appearances have raised concerns, though Vorster emphasized her talent remains undeniable.
