Sinner On Court

According to reports, Jannik Sinner won’t find out the outcome of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s appeal regarding his failed drug tests until early 2025.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) verdict in Sinner’s case is expected in 2025, according to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, which also stated that it is likely to occur in February.

As a result of this announcement, Sinner will be able to play for the remainder of the 2024 season and, pending a decision, probably be able to participate in the January 2025 Australian Open. In 2024, Sinner won his first major championship at the Australian Open.

The newspaper also stated that one arbitrator would be chosen by CAS, one by WADA, and one by Sinner, making up the three-arbitrator panel that will consider WADA’s appeal.

Following an independent tribunal’s decision that Sinner was not at fault, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) declared last month that Sinner would not face a ban for failing two anti-doping tests in March.

A statement from WADA said: “It is WADA’s view that the finding of ‘no fault or negligence’ was not correct under the applicable rules. WADA is seeking a period of ineligibility of between one and two years. WADA is not seeking a disqualification of any results, save that which has already been imposed by the tribunal of first instance.”
