Julien Benneteau fractures right elbow and sprains ankle – 2012 ATP Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters – Video

Is something wrong with the clay in Monte-Carlo?

It seems that many players are keep on having movements problems especially on the Central Court. Apparently it is very easy to twist ankles when sliding (something very dengerous when you play on clay corts). It seems that too many clay has been added so as to form dangerous even concentration of clay in some spots.

Few days ago it was Monaco that had to retire after a very bad fall during his match with Haase when the match was in the third set. The outcome? A grade 2 injury of ankle ligaments, which means they’re partially torn and Monaco out at least for a month. A pity for a player that was in top form (he have just won the ATP in Houston)

‘I have fractured my right elbow and sprained my ankle,’ Benneteau said. ‘The worst thing is the fracture, which means at least three weeks of immobility. I will then have to get the feeling back in my elbow.’
‘A lot of things crashed with me when I fell,’ Benneteau added. ‘I think it’s finished for Roland (Garros).’

Regarding the Olimpyc Games ‘The first thing I thought about when I fell down was ‘the games (are finished),” Benneteau said. ‘But I will start working on my ankle on Monday. I’ll do all I can.’

Good Luck!
