Eugenie Bouchard has stated her reasons for wanting to interview Novak Djokovic, even though she is a fan of Roger Federer. She admitted that her admiration and respect for the Serb had grown over time.
In addition to winning gold medals at the Olympics, both players have held the ATP world No. 1 ranking for more than 300 weeks each.
Bouchard stated that she was interested in listening to Caroline Garcia and her fiancé Borja Durans’ podcast, Tennis Insider Club, because she is a fan of Djokovic and because of everything he has accomplished in his career, which she called crazy.
Nonetheless, the former world No. 5 admitted that she has always been a Federer fan. She also disclosed that, although she used to not be a fan of Djokovic, she now is.
She talked about it and said: “Well, I mean, on the men’s side, I’d say Novak (Djokovic) just because, I mean, what he’s done, I think, is just so insane, and I’m a fan of his. I didn’t actually used to be. I mean, I’ve always been a Roger (Federer) fan. So like Roger to this day is still always there, but I wasn’t a fan of Novak and then became a fan.”
Bouchard expressed her admiration for Djokovic’s ability to win matches, his commitment to maintaining his physical fitness, and his ability to stand strong for his beliefs.
She added: “I think that him standing up for what he believes in is so important. And the way he can still win the way he does and the way he takes care of his body, and he’s like, just not normal. I mean, he’s like a freak, obviously, so it’s like I would love to just know the inside of his mind.”
