Scary stuff in the UK as Akira Santillan loses his cool after he lost a tough match in the second round of the qualifications against Ruben Bemelmans on Wednesday after blowing two match points in a 6-7 (5) 6-3 12-10 defeat.
The Australian had a rather extreme reaction to “go to a secluded spot on the Roehampton field” before destroying his 5 rackets one after the other and leaving them behind.
Ranked no.238, the young Australian was unlucky as his fury was got on camera to hit the headlines all over the world. Qualifying for the main draw would have meant pocketing at least £45,000 that was also something that may have added to Akira’s frustration.
