Alcaraz and Gauff enjoy their time together at ‘The Forbidden City’ ahead of the China Open

Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz are competing for the men's and women's singles titles at the China Open in Beijing. They meet at "The Forbidden City" before the event to become more familiar with local customs.

Gauff And Alcaraz

At the China Open in Beijing, Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz are aiming to win the singles titles for men and women, respectively. To learn more about the customs of the area, they get together at “The Forbidden City” ahead of the event.

After Team Europe won its fifth Laver Cup in Berlin, Alcaraz travelled to Beijing. By taking eight of Team Europe’s thirteen points during the competition, the Spaniard demonstrated his leadership abilities on the court. Additionally, he led Spain to victory in Group B at the Davis Cup, which led to a quarterfinal spot.

Contrary, Gauff did not enjoy the hard court swing in North America. She lost in the second round and was unable to reclaim her Cincinnati championship. To get to the fourth round of the US Open, she defeated Tatjana Maria, Varvara Gracheva and Elina Svitolina. After that, she lost in three sets to Emma Navarro, a fellow countrywoman.

Gauff, who lost her US Open title defence and fell to world No. 5, is optimistic about her performance in China. She met Alcaraz while they were enjoying “The Forbidden City” in traditional attire.

Alcaraz said in a video on X: “Hey. I am with Coco Gauff here in China.”

Gauff expressed his happiness at being able to wear traditional clothing in the same video.

She said: “We are here in the forbidden city learning about the culture and colours. We have our traditional clothing on, and I’m super excited to be here.”
