Muguruza battles past Rogers to reach the FO semifinal

Garbine Muguruza beats the world no.108 Shelby Rogers to reach the semifinal in Paris. The match wasn’t as easy for the Spaniard as many predicted. After the American gained a 5-3 lead in the first set, Garbine found the solution to crack the code and win seven consecutive games to be 7-5 3-0 up. Shelby managed to get back to win three straight games (3-3), but eventually the Spaniard used her superior arsenal to win 7-5 6-3.

Muguruza. I feel great

Garbine commented “I feel great. Previous years, you know, I end the tournament in quarterfinals. This year I really wanted to, you know, go through. I think it’s great. I kept my chances in the tournament, and it’s a big tournament for us, especially for Spanish people.”

The semi vs. Stosur

In theory, Garbine will be the big favorite in her next match against Sam Stosur, but the Australian has the right experience (she was the 2009 French Open runner-up) and she has a 1-0 win-loss record against Muguruza on clay in Madrid.
