Caroline Wozniacki, Caroline Garcia, Elina Svitolina, and Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur all withdraw from the Beijing 1000 competition. Following her withdrawals from the US Open, Cincinnati, and Washington in August, Jabeur announced that she would not be playing for the remainder of the 2024 season.

Svitolina, a Ukrainian tennis player, has confirmed that she has had surgery, making her the latest WTA star to announce an early end to the 2024 season.

Jabeur recently wrote: “Due to my ongoing shoulder injury, my medical team and I’ve made the difficult decision to step off the tennis circuit for the rest of the season. I will see you back on the court in Australia in 2025.”

Svitolina wrote on Instagram: “So unfortunately my 2024 season is now in the history books, as I have had surgery on my foot today to correct a long-standing issue that I have been trying to manage throughout this year. This is the same issue that ended my season in 2023 and has hampered me for most of 2024. It’s become harder to manage and has been impacting me more and more, not just with regard to tennis and training but in my everyday life too.”

It is evident that neither player will participate in the Beijing 1000 event given their announcement to take a brief break until the 2025 season.

According to recent reports, Caroline Garcia and Caroline Wozniacki have also withdrawn from the Beijing event.
