Joao Fonseca Draws Inspiration From Alcaraz, Sinner, And Federer

Joao Fonseca, one of tennis’ rising stars, has quickly captured the attention of the tennis world. At just 18, the Brazilian talent impressed many with his powerful shots and charisma, particularly during his breakthrough performance in Rio de Janeiro. Now, with aspirations of reaching the heights of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Fonseca’s determination to win Grand Slam titles is clear.

“I see the rivalry they have, and that’s where I’d like to go. I want to win Grand Slams and other major tournaments. Alcaraz and Sinner are a motivation and inspiration for me to work harder and harder,” said Fonseca.

Despite the attention, Fonseca takes a measured approach to his career. He continues to focus on the Challenger circuit to build his experience, turning down lucrative deals from top representation agencies. “My agents are my parents. We are living in the present calmly, thinking things through because this is a long-term career. These are important decisions,” he explained.

In addition to his admiration for Alcaraz and Sinner, Fonseca’s idol has always been Roger Federer. While he has yet to meet Federer in person, the Swiss legend sent him a congratulatory video after his US Open junior win. Fonseca added, “Federer has been my idol since I was a kid. If I had a conversation with him, I would try to make the most of it.”

With his impressive maturity and strong support system, Joao Fonseca is poised for a bright future, determined to make his mark on the global tennis stage.
