Coco Gauff and renowned coach Brad Gilbert have parted ways after more than a year of working together. Gilbert shared the news via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing gratitude for the time spent coaching Gauff and the success they achieved together.

“Thanks to Coco Gauff and the entire team for an absolutely amazing summer run in 2023 and for 14 months of incredible team effort,” Gilbert wrote. “Coco, at just 20 years young, your future is incredibly bright, and I wish you nothing but continued success ahead.”

Gauff teamed up with Gilbert in 2022, alongside Spain’s Pere Riba, and shortly after, her career saw a meteoric rise. She secured wins in Washington, D.C., Cincinnati, and most notably, her first Grand Slam title at the US Open. Gauff became the youngest American woman to win the prestigious tournament since Serena Williams, accomplishing the feat 25 years later.

The split follows Riba’s departure from Gauff’s team in late 2023, leaving Gilbert as her head coach. However, Gauff added former coach Jean-Cristophe Faurel back to her team during the clay-court season. In June, she reached her career-high ranking of World No.2 and also won her first Grand Slam doubles title at Roland Garros with partner Katerina Siniakova.

Gilbert’s guidance was instrumental in Gauff’s incredible run, but with her team now evolving, she looks ahead to continue her impressive tennis journey.
