For the Laver Cup 2024, Team World has revealed two new editions. Team World and Team Europe will compete for the ultimate glory at the mega-event, which takes place in Berlin from September 20 to 22.
Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis and Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo have reportedly been added to Team World in place of Australia’s Alex de Minaur and America’s Tommy Paul. A fitness concern has forced both players to withdraw from the competition.
Cerundolo was suddenly eliminated from the US Open in the second round by fellow countryman Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Likewise, Kokkinakis also lost in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, 7-5, to Portugal’s Nuno Borges in the US Open’s second round.
John McEnroe, a former world champion, will head Team World. Taylor Fritz, the American who finished second in the US Open in 2024, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Alejandro Tabilo, Cerundolo, and Kokkinakis will be on the team.
