Djokovic cruises in French Open opener

Novak Djokovic starts his French Open campaign in the best possible way after beating the world no. 95 Yen-Hsun Lu 6-4 6-1 6-1. The only awkward situation for the world no.1 was when he conceded a service game in the first set after he broke Lu. From that moment (4-all) Nole won 14 of the following 16 games.

Djokovic. I am happy with my tennis in the last two sets…

After the match, Nole commented “Second and third sets were really good. I thought I found my rhythm. The first set was up and down. But I’ll take the positives out of it, and I’m hoping I can progress as the tournament goes on.”

… about managing expectations

When asked about the pressure that Djokovic is having for winning the Roland Garros, he commented “It’s not the first time that I’m experiencing such anticipation and expectations. I try to use it as a motivation to inspire myself, to play well, to stay calm and focus only on the present moment.”

Next vs. Darcis

Nole will play the world no.161 Steve Darcis in the 2nd round. The head to head is 2-0 for Djokovic that has never conceded a single set to the Belgian; on the contrary, the world no.1 served a bagel (6-0) to Darcis on both occasions.
