Emma Navarro made history at the US Open by defeating Paula Badosa in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5, to earn her first-ever Grand Slam semi-final berth. Many people were moved by Navarro’s tearful post-match interview, in which she expressed gratitude to her father for his unwavering support during her tennis career.

After defeating Badosa in the quarterfinals, Navarro gave an on-court interview where she thanked him for keeping her from settling into a regular 9–5 job, which she feels she would never have succeeded in.

Navarro gave an amazing performance. In just 29 minutes, she easily won the first set and broke Badosa’s serve in the second and eighth games.
