Taylor Townsend’s hopes of winning two doubles titles at the tournament remain alive as she and Donald Young made it to the U.S. Open mixed doubles final on Tuesday.
Townsend and Young, retiring just after the competition, defeated Aldila Sutjiadi and Rohan Bopanna 6-3, 6-4. In Thursday’s final, the old friends will take on No. 3 seeds Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, both Italians.
The Wimbledon women’s doubles champions Townsend and Katerina Siniakova defeated the No. 8-seeded team of Demi Schuurs and Luisa Stefani 6-2, 6-3, earlier on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals at Flushing Meadows. The third-seeded teams of Townsend and Siniakova will face Kristina Mladenovic and Zhang Shuai, who are ranked lower.

Donald Young will play the world no.102 Zachary Svajda in the quarter. The head to head is 1-0 for Svajda.
