Roger Federer has voiced concerns over the handling of Jannik Sinner’s doping case, highlighting the inconsistencies surrounding the situation. Sinner tested positive for the banned substance clostebol in March, but successfully appealed his provisional suspensions, claiming contamination. An independent tribunal later ruled that Sinner bore “no fault or negligence.”

Federer acknowledged the unwanted attention this case brought to tennis, stating,

“It’s just noise that we don’t want.” He emphasized the importance of fairness, questioning whether Sinner was treated differently from other players. Federer added,

“The inconsistency potentially that he didn’t have to sit out… I think that’s the question here that needs to be answered.”

Despite these concerns, Federer expressed trust in the process and in Sinner’s innocence, echoing the sentiments of other players who have called for transparency in such cases.
