Nick Kyrgios has stepped in to debunk claims that Taylor Fritz is being “snubbed” at the US Open by not playing on the main Arthur Ashe Stadium. After tennis journalist Jose Morgado suggested that Fritz might be “less hyped” than other American players like Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, and Coco Gauff, Kyrgios quickly set the record straight.
Kyrgios responded via social media, stating that Fritz actually prefers to play on Louis Armstrong Stadium and specifically requests that court. Former world No. 1 Andy Roddick supported this, confirming that Fritz has consistently expressed his preference for Armstrong over Arthur Ashe.
Fritz, who is into his second consecutive US Open quarter-final, has been taking a more measured approach this year. Reflecting on his past experiences, Fritz emphasized the importance of focusing on each match individually. “Take it one match at a time. Worry about the person that’s in front of me, and we’ll go from there,” he stated, determined to push beyond the quarterfinal stage.
