Gauff Pumped Up At The Us Open

During the US Open, Coco Gauff revealed something very personal while wearing the Olympic rings as a necklace. The American professional is giving it her all at Flushing Meadows to secure her title defence.

Gauff defeated Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in a thrilling three-set comeback victory at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to advance to the fourth round. The 20-year-old spoke candidly about her religious beliefs and the pious rituals she follows during a press conference held after the game.

The No. 3 seed hinted that she cares about the emotional parts of every disheartening loss while thinking about her inner self. Citing her deeply religious side, Gauff said she reverently writes down her feelings to categorise them and direct them in a spiritual direction for greater understanding, and she reads the Bible regularly.

Gauff talked about it and said: “I have two journals; I read the Bible every day. Then I have a personal one where I just write usually the night before I play. It’s something I’ve always done but just do it more frequently because it holds you accountable for your feelings and your thoughts.”

She added: “Every match I’ve been going in, I just don’t want to leave with any regret. There are matches where you lose and you’re like, ‘I mentally wasn’t here, and that’s completely fine; those are things you can’t control at the moment. But, for a more emotional and mental approach, I don’t want to have any regrets.”
