Rafael Nadal is not very happy with seeding in Wimbledon. In fact, the organization at SW19 uses a particular formula that doesn’t entirely reflect the ATP rankings and Rafael Nadal is one of the players that will suffer the most of it since he will not be seeded no.2, but no.3 (see article).
Seeded no.3 means that Nadal will have big chances to face either Roger Federer or Novak Djokovic in a possible semifinal while being seeded no.2 would have made it sure for him not to face Novak before a potential final.
What Nadal said about being seeded no.3
The Spanish legend released the following comment during an interview with Movistar
“It’s the usual thing. Wimbledon is the only tournament of the year where they do whatever they want in that sense. Whatever it is, whether I’m two or three, I’ll have to be at my best and will fight to win the games I’m involved in.
The only thing that doesn’t seem right is that it’s only Wimbledon that does this. It’s not just for me, it’s for other players too. They don’t respect the status that players have earned throughout the season.”
