Another week another title for “Santina” (Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis). Sania and Martina win their 5th title of the season in Rome. This was an important title because even if Sania and Martina were almost invincible in 2015, they have struggled in 2016 after winning four titles in the first six weeks of the season. Sania and Martina have managed to reach the finals in Madrid and Stuttgart, but they were beaten on both occasions by the French team Garcia-Mladenovic.
In Rome things were much better for Santina that defeated Makarova and Vesnina 6-1 6-7 (5) 10-3 in the final. With this title, Sania and Martina pocket 123.700 Euro.
Hingis and Mirza have won the last three slams, and they are now looking forward to grabbing the French Open to hold all four majors.
