Frances Tiafoe is gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch against Ben Shelton in the third round of the US Open. The 26-year-old, who lost to Shelton in the quarterfinals last year, is excited about facing the young American once again.
“Obviously, you know, he’s very much like me in how excited and energetic he is on the court and has such a big game and big shots and serves big and gets the crowd going,” Tiafoe said.
Tiafoe acknowledged Shelton’s powerful serve as a key challenge, calling it “one of the better serves on the tour.” Despite the tough competition, Tiafoe is eager to prove himself and return to the semifinals after last year’s disappointing exit.
Shelton, too, is looking forward to the rematch. “We had a great battle in the quarters last year, and I am sure it will be another popcorn match,” he said.
