Two-time Grand Slam finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas is navigating a challenging period in his tennis career, but his girlfriend, Paula Badosa, remains confident in his resilience. After Tsitsipas suffered a first-round exit at the US Open, Badosa expressed her unwavering support, stating, “He is going through difficult times, but he is a champion and will always be a champion.”
Tsitsipas, once ranked as high as world number three, has recently faced a series of setbacks, including his defeat to Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis at the US Open. Reflecting on his struggles, the 26-year-old admitted, “I’m nothing compared to the player I was before,” citing “long-term burnout” as a significant factor in his decline.
Despite these challenges, Badosa, who secured her third-round berth at the US Open, emphasized the importance of their bond, both on and off the court. The couple, who briefly split earlier this year before rekindling their relationship, are looking forward to competing together in mixed doubles at the tournament. “Spending time together on and off the court in this tournament is very special,” Badosa added.
