Djokovic edges Nishikori after a huge fight

Novak Djokovic wins another battle against the Japanese no.1 Key Nishikori in the Rome semifinal. Djokovic had to rally after losing the 1st set 6-2. Probably the most important part of the match was when the world no.1 won 5 consecutive games when the encounter was on a 2-6 4-all score-line; after that stint, Djokovic was leading 2-6 6-4 3-0, but Nishikori broke back Nole in the 7th game (4-3). Everything was resolved at the breaker when Djokovic won 5 consecutive points (from 1-3 to 6-3) to seal the match after 3 hours. The final score was 2-6 6-4 7-6 (5).

Djokovic. You must be lucky

Nole won 112 points vs. Nishikori’s 111 to comment that the difference was “One point. Today it was 112 to 111 points won. So one point. At this level, this particular match is a great example of how it can be decided, in clutch moments and very few shots. Sometimes the luck can go your way, sometimes not. But the only thing you can do is influence your own capabilities on the court and your own focus and things that you can do best.”

The final vs. Murray

Djokovic will play the final against Murray. The head to head is 23-9 for Djokovic, 4-0 for Nole on clay. The world no.1 has recently defeated Murray in the final in Madrid; let’ s see if Andy can avenge that.
