Djokovic provides an update on his knee condition after using a brace throughout the US Open

It's unclear whether Novak Djokovic's knee pain will prevent him from competing at the US Open in 2024 given that he is still wearing a brace.

Djokovic Provides An Update On His Knee Condition After Using A Brace Throughout The Us Open

Novak Djokovic recently provided an update on his knee status, following his use of a knee brace during the 2024 US Open. The Serbian star, who underwent knee surgery nearly three months ago, continues to wear the brace, raising questions about its impact on his performance.

Despite occasional discomfort, Djokovic has reported that the knee has not significantly hindered his play. Reflecting on his impressive performance at the Paris Olympics, where he won gold, Djokovic noted that the brace did not affect his form in the final against Carlos Alcaraz. His US Open campaign commenced with a straightforward victory over Radu Albot, winning 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. Although he experienced some issues with his serve and rhythm, he deemed his overall performance solid.

“I think it was a solid start. Look, I struggled with my serve and the rhythm on certain shots. Overall from the back of the court I thought I played pretty well,” Djokovic said in the post-match press conference. He acknowledged that starting a Grand Slam without recent official matches could pose challenges, but he was prepared to use practice days to improve his game.

Djokovic, who opted not to play in any preparation events before the US Open, expressed confidence in his knee’s condition, stating that the brace is more of a precaution than a necessity. “The knee is fine really. I haven’t had any issues throughout the entire Olympic tournament and here first round. Knock on wood, it’s all good,” he confirmed.

Looking ahead, Djokovic plans to continue practicing between matches to address any issues and refine his performance.
