Andy Murray and Amelie Mauresmo are not partnering anymore. The Scot has been coached for two years by Amelie, but apparently things didn’t go that well because Mauresmo wasn’t able to properly follow Andy after giving birth to a baby boy last August.
Mauresmo. Travelling is a challenge
In a statement, Amelie commented that “dedicating enough time along with the travel has been a challenge for me.”
Murray. Being a woman is not a problem
Andy has been an active advocate for female coaches to state that “Roger stopped working with Stefan Edberg at the end of last year because Edberg wanted to spend more time with his family, didn’t want to spend as much time traveling. No one batted an eyelid about that.
So, in my opinion, it’s nothing to do with Amélie being a woman. It takes a lot of time to do the job well and properly. For a lot of the ex-players, it’s not easy to do that for four, five years in a row.”
