Barty overtakes Naomi Osaka for the top no.1 spot

It’s official! Ashleigh Barty is the new world no.1.

The Australian managed to overtake Naomi Osaka in the top spot of the rankings after she won the title in Birmingham. After this, Barty leads the Japanese by 163 points.

Further back, Simona Halep overtakes Elina Svitolina to be ranked no.7, and Angelique Kerber takes Karolina Pliskova’s places to be the new world no.5.
