During an on-court interview following his Round 1 victory at the 2024 US Open, Frances Tiafoe discussed the challenges he faced during the match against Aleksandar Kovacevic, including serving 25 aces and adapting to tough conditions, particularly when the roof was closed and the stadium became muggy.
Tiafoe also spoke about the positive influence of his relatively new coach, David, and his fun and supportive demeanor. Additionally, Tiafoe, who has participated in the US Open for the past 10 years, reflected on the passage of time and shared memories of his aspirations as a young player in the tournament.

Now ranked no.20, the American owns a composed 25-20 match record in 2024. Frances is competing at the U.S. Open where he toppled the world no.76 Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4 6-3 4-6 7-5.
Frances Tiafoe will compete against the world no.61 Alexander Shevchenko in the 2nd round. In the past, they have never competed against each other until now in top tournaments.
Frances reached the final in Houston (US Men’s Clay Court Championship) and in Cincinnati (Western & Southern Open).
