Paula Badosa revealed in a recent interview that she was not aware of Stefanos Tsitsipas’ decision to split from his father Apostolos, whom he hired again last year.

A new drama started when Tsitsipas’ racquet went silent in Montreal during the second round. He stated that he would rather keep his father in his role as a father, and the Greek player only confirmed this a day after criticizing his father’s coaching methods. Badosa, his girlfriend, has opened up about her thoughts on the whole thing now that the dust has settled.

Badosa, who is ready to play in the US Open, recently said: “Look. I’m a very independent woman myself and I make my own decisions. Of course, we talk about everything, but in this situation, he wanted to do it on his own because it’s a very personal thing.”

Badosa recognized Tsitsipas’s need for privacy while he attended to private family matters. She added: “It’s a family thing, so I don’t want to get involved with that. I have my opinion but I want him to make his own decisions and grow by himself.”
